November 2011

Just a few recent pictures and videos of the Davis' boys.

As you can see, roping is Hudson's new thing. He loves to watch roping videos on YouTube and read the Western Horsemen magazines at Mia & DanDan's house. I think we're in trouble.

The world's messiest eater ;)

I want his eyelashes :)

Every parent thinks their children are exceptionally smart and adorable, and I am no exception. Here is a video of Hudson making the sounds of the letters in the alphabet. He's really interested in his letters these days. He's hooked on a little video about all the letters and their sounds, and now he recognizes every letter and loves to write H's everywhere.

Ryder us fearless. He plays on the equipment at the elementary school near our house like he is a big boy.

Another video of Ryder sneaking up and getting his Uncle Clay.

Midland Madness

We're officially Texans now. We finally got moved into our new house, well mostly. Moving is always crazy, and for people that swear they do not like to move ... we sure do it often. But, we are settling in and enjoying the extended summer. It has been in the 80's here for the past month and except for the recent dust tsunami that sweep through the area, the weather has been beautiful. We've re-connected with some old friends and are beginning to search for a new church. Leaving Albuquerque and our friends and family and church and new house was harder than I ever imagined. We now are even more aware of how God greatly blessed us during our time there. Leaving our dear friends that we love showed us how faithful God had been to surround us with families that love God and care about our family. We miss you! But, that also helped us to believe that God can and will provide friendship and encouragement to our family here as well. For some reason, we feel like God has plucked us up and planted us in Midland. We are excited to see what he has planned for us here.

"being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" Philippians 1:6

Seems like so many sweet families have been dealing with devastating loses lately. There are no words, just fervent prayer and faith in His healing.

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Psalms 91:4

And lots of pictures

Love this smile!

Ryder is 1 year old!!!

We can't believe it is July again! It doesn't seem possible that Ryder is a year old and that it was a year ago that we brought Ryder home from the hospital to the (extremely hot) rental house while we were building our new house. Although this past year has been hectic and full of change, we can't imagine our lives without our sweet baby Ryder! He is so precious and keeps us on our toes. His favorite things these days are eating anything/everything and walking holding Mom or Dad's fingers. He is so close to walking on his own, and then Hudson better watch out. He loves to do anything that his big brother is doing.

Happy Birthday Ryder!

He at the WHOLE cupcake and some ice cream too! When Hudson turned one, we had to force some icing into his mouth but he never would take a bite of his cupcake. Their personalities are SO different.

Aunt Terri made him a choo choo train birthday cake and cupcakes.

Don't worry, he has developed quite a sweet tooth in the last year and a half.

Painting on the porch with Grandma. They had SO much fun!

Hudson concentrating on keeping the colors in the lines.

And Ryder was concentrating on painting himself, his big brother, and Grandma!

Hudson is a pretty good eater when he wants to be. Proof that he does eat vegetables. He loves edamame.

Our little soccer player. He will kick this ball around for hours and he's pretty good too.

All dressed up for Father's Day!

Easter Celebration

The Resurrection (Matthew 28 ESV)

28:1 Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay ...

16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

So thankful today for Jesus, who lived the righteous life that I could never live and who suffered and died for my offenses against God so that I might be forgiven and have a relationship with the Most High God. May our thankfulness cause us to cling to our Savior, worship Him with every part of our lives, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, go out and make disciples of all nations!

We have been reading about Christ's death and resurrection from Hudson's Bible for the past few weeks getting ready for Easter, but on Friday night it had been a long, fun-filled day so I was planning to put Hudson to bed without reading. We were almost to his bed and he pointed to his bookcase and asked "Bible?". I asked him "Do you want to read about Jesus before bed?". "Yes, Jesus" was his reply. So sweet ... my cup runneth over!

Hudson had SO much fun this Easter weekend. His grandma and grandpa came to town and we colored Easter eggs, made Jello jigglers and a bunny cake, flew his first kite, played at the park, and of course hunted eggs over and over and over :) We just kept telling Ryder that next year would be his year, but he seemed to have a good time watching his big brother this year.

Here are a few pictures from our weekend.
